The environmental impact of a product is largely
determined at the early design stage. Through innovative
product design and Acer's care-centric approach,
we can minimise the damage to our environment. Reducing
the power consumption of our products in turn leads
to lower discharge of greenhouse gas -- the well-known
cause of global warming.
Since 2000, Acer has been taking strict measures
to reduce energy consumption of our IT products,
and allocated immeasurable resource and manpower
to meet the Energy
Star regulations. Today, all Acer desktops,
notebook PCs and monitors conform to the requirements
of Energy Star. For example the standard power-off
mode of our LCD monitors is 2 watts, and sleep
mode is 4 watts. Acer has set its target to deliver
a power-off mode of 1 watt and sleep mode of 2
watts by January 2006.
